Terms of use

These terms are the agreement between you and Pilipins App, who makes PiliPins. By creating an account or using the app you agree to them. They're written to be read: if anything is unclear, email us.

Who can play

You must be 13 or older to use PiliPins. One account per person; keep your sign-in to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else is using your account.

Playing fair

PiliPins is about places you've actually been. A stamp means you stood there. So you agree not to:

  • fake your location, with a mock-location app, an emulator or any other trick;
  • modify the app, or use bots, scripts or a changed device to send visits;
  • share an account, or use several accounts to get ahead;
  • look for and use bugs to earn stamps or pins instead of reporting them to us.

The app checks each visit — your location, how long you stayed, and whether the app and phone are genuine. Some visits are flagged and checked by a person. We may hold, reverse or remove stamps and pins that weren't earned fairly, and suspend or close accounts that cheat. Some limits are part of the game: for example, only a few Stopovers a day earn pins straight away, and the rest are credited on the following days.

Staying safe

You decide where you go and how you get there. Places in PiliPins come mostly from OpenStreetMap, a map made by volunteers, and may be wrong, closed, on private land, or unsafe to visit at certain times. Before you go:

  • respect private property and local rules, fees and closures — never trespass for a stamp;
  • don't use the app while driving, and stay aware of your surroundings;
  • check conditions for waterfalls, mountains, caves and the sea, and take care in bad weather;
  • visit places of worship, heritage sites and communities with respect.

A place being in the app is not a recommendation that it's safe or open, or permission to enter it.

Your username and profile

Your username is public. Don't choose one that impersonates someone, pretends to be PiliPins or its team, or is offensive; we may change or remove usernames that do, and reserve some names. You can change your username once every 30 days, and an old one is held for 90 days so nobody else can take it straight away.

What you share

Share cards and profile pages show what you've stamped. When you post a card or a link somewhere, you decide who sees it, and that service's rules apply. Keep your profile private if you'd rather other people didn't see your stamps. How we handle your data is in our privacy policy.

Tips and reports

Tips are for what the next player should know about a place. Keep them true to your own experience, and don't post advertising or spam, anything rude, hateful or threatening, other people's personal details (phone numbers, addresses, plate numbers), or anything that encourages unsafe or illegal behaviour. A reviewer reads every tip before it's shown, and we may decline, unpublish or remove any tip. You keep your tip; by posting it you let us show it in the app and on the web while it's published.

If a tip or a place looks wrong — a tip breaking these rules, a place that doesn't exist or can't be visited — report it from the app; you can also suggest a place that's missing. A reviewer looks at every report. A tip reported by several players is hidden until a reviewer has looked. Please report honestly: repeated false reports may cost you the ability to report or your account.

The beta

PiliPins is new and still changing. During the beta, features may change or disappear, the app may be unavailable at times, and we may reset accounts, stamps and pins — for example when we move to new systems before a public launch. We'll tell you in advance when we can.

Our content and others'

The app, its design, the stamps and the PiliPins name and logo belong to Pilipins App; you may share your cards and screenshots of the app, but not copy or resell the app or its content. Map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License. Place photos come from Wikimedia Commons and other sources, each under its own license and credited where it's shown.

No guarantees

PiliPins is free and provided as it is. We work to keep it accurate and running, but we can't promise it will always be available, error-free, or that any place, stamp or ranking is correct. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for losses arising from your use of the app or from visiting places listed in it. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under Philippine consumer law.

Ending your account

You can stop using PiliPins and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms; where it's fair to, we'll tell you why. A suspended account can't stamp, post or report, and it is deleted on request rather than from the app; we delete it within 30 days of your request.

Changes

We may update these terms as PiliPins changes. We'll update the date at the top of this page and tell you in the app when a change is significant. Continuing to use PiliPins after that means you accept the new terms.

Law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the Philippines. Questions, problems or disputes — start by emailing us at support@hanapkita.ph.
